Ratatar, Sindhuli Site Assessment
Ratatar Village at Sindhuli is inhabited mostly by the Hayu's, an endangered indigenous peoples of Nepal. There are around 42 households, all of which were devastated in the recent earthquake. During our pre-need site assessment, Bishwa Lal Shrestha, our local partner from the area, informed us that all 42 households are in the dire need of rehabilitation. According to him, a few years ago, a big wildfire had engulfed all houses in the community. They had reconstructed the village by taking some loans, which is yet to be repaid. Therefore, the community is greatly disempowered in terms of resource to rebuild their communities after the earthquake.
